Real Brides and Grooms reviews of David Conway Photography

Beth & Adam

We were so excited when we met David at a wedding fair. We found his style suited us perfectly and he was so friendly and willing to chat to us about what we would want from our wedding. We especially loved all the different shots and lighting he could offer, such good ideas to make our day memorable.

Pre wedding communication was fab! We had to change our date due to COVID and David was nothing but courteous and helpful to find a day that suited everyone. He always got back to us quickly and with options.Everyone commented on how amazing David was at the wedding. He made everyone feel so at ease, and all the wedding party had such a good time with him getting ready. Our guests have all told us how they enjoyed being photographed by him, and we loved the fact we weren’t required to be away from our guests for long periods of time during the day, he fitted the couple and family shots in seamlessly.

I can remember all of my bridal party just being amazed by how well he fitted into the morning, without anyone feeling self conscious. He got some great shots of silly stuff such as my necklace breaking and my bridesmaids trying to fix it last minute. We also have some great pictures of us spraying the champagne whilst all having had a few drinks. I especially was thankful for him being so patient with my grandad who wanted to film some key bits of the wedding, I’m sure this could have seemed like an imposition and getting in the way at times however he handled it impeccably and allowed him to do that.

One of my favourite parts was when we were trying to get a shot with my veil and we had a second shooter crouching behind me trying to sort my veil out but it was too windy and just kept tangling everywhere. It then got caught in all the vines and David caught it all perfectly, we have some amazing pictures of us laughing amongst the vines.

We love our wedding gallery! We were so happy when it arrived,. What we really loved was the fact we had loads of candid pictures of other people not in the bridal party that enabled us to see other parts of the day we hadn’t before. It felt like he had captured all of the elements featuring all of our guests. Some of the photos are truly breathtaking and made us feel like we could be in a magazine! I love our nighttime shot of just us two, I honestly feel like a model in it. I also love the ones of us walking through the vines with the amazing backdrop. The ones from and immediately after the ceremony (including the kiss one), and the one of adam actually showing me some love in his face 🤣.

My favourite one of Adam is when he’s getting his bow tie done by his dad, and his buttonhole done.

Describing David in three words is easy; Everything we wanted! Or if you want three descriptor words - Talented, Attentive & Perfect!

Emma & Mark

One of David’s photos came up on one of the many wedding groups I had joined on Facebook after getting engaged. From the second I saw that one photo I knew I wanted… no NEEDED…David as our photographer!!!

David’s communication was perfect from start to finish especially with myself working out of America (at the time of arranging everything) and leaving my now-husband and parents to meet David! Time zones never affected our communication whilst I was away from the country. Even when the pandemic hit, David was one of the first people to reach out to us regarding our original wedding date and doing his best to juggle in our new date.

David was amazing on our wedding day, so smartly dressed, extremely professional and even joined in with our silly antics throughout the long day! At times, we didn’t even realise he was there capturing all of the candid, natural moments. David managed to be in the right place every moment of our wedding without us realising he was in the right position! We managed to acquire a golf cart before heading off for some photos…4 people, camera equipment, a couple of tight corners at speed resulted in us losing David off the back of the golf cart half way down the 7th hole! Oops… sorry about that David!

We also got shouted at by a grumpy lady for using her courtyard which was located on the venue grounds, but David was very calming and helped resolve any issues. When we got our initial gallery through the website via email, it was so magical!!! We took the time to sit down and view every single photo available. After finishing, we both looked at each other and said “how are we going to choose a select number to place in the album, we love them all!”

Receiving the ‘sneak peak’ photos just after the wedding was a perfect touch to keep the moment of the day/night going. It made it feel like our wedding day went on for that little bit longer.Look back at my gallery, it’s impossible to choose just one favourite image. They are all our favourites! But some stand out ones have to be: The one under the outdoor arch way, the one where we are both laughing (my Facebook profile pic), the champagne night shot. The one where my family are picking up Mark, the one with the bridesmaid and groomsmen walking forward in the courtyard of the grumpy woman, the one where in the background you can see castle hill and the one of us walking towards the camera in front of the trees. I also love the shot where one of our guest is standing inside the window (taken from outside), the candid shots of Mark and I being our quirky selves at the top table and one of our youngest guest in her own world playing around outside. As you can see, there are quite a few.

Describing David in three words; Friendly, Professional, Attentive, but in reality we need more than three words! This is just as hard as choosing 60 photos from 1000!!!

Willow and Jim

We were initially drawn to David through some Instagram photos. We wanted a very chilled and relaxed wedding with photos that were not too invasive of the day or to us and our guests. We wanted natural shots of people genuinely enjoying themselves. David's photos looked like they fit the bill and he absolutely delivered! As the bride and groom we were very busy getting round all our guests to spend much time with anyone! So having the pictures we got of our guests enjoying the day, totally naturally, was amazing to see when we got our wedding album back.

On the build up to the wedding, David was very quick to respond to our questions, as well as being very good at providing us with his professional insight and ideas to which we would not have thought about! With all the stresses of wedding planning as they are, David honestly helped take some of that stress off as we knew he was on top of what we were asking him to do.David was fantastic on the day and very much overdelivered! He was there early, had known where to go and what to do as we had met at the venue previously and thanks to this pre planning he just blended into our day. We wanted mostly natural shots of us and our guests (all bar the usual few standard formal family shots) and the results were amazing.

He had a great eye for knowing right times to take us away for shots with a purpose rather than just interrupting the flow of the day. David also brought a 2nd photographer to the day which was great! It meant that when we were off doing bride and groom shoots, we still had someone covering guests! Also David had scoped out the venue really well for good photo opportunities and had found some great places we hadn't thought of!Both David and his colleague Lanna were very down to earth, relaxed and professional and it was a pleasure having them with us.

After guests had all had a bite to eat and a beer, David found a good opportunity to whip out the drone for some aerial shots too! Which were brilliant. We took forever to pick out the photos for our wedding album! Thankfully David was great at helping us design it both in style and photo positioning. Its turned out absolutely brilliant. Its very cliché to say, but its tough to pick out a favourite photo of the day! There were a few different shots that spring to mind. Firstly was our confetti strut back down the isle after getting married! The smiles, colours and happiness that these photos emanate is wonderful.

We had some photos in a field with hay bails that David had scouted out that turned out amazing. The drone came out for that one! Some really clever shots! We got married in coloured welly's and had a shot where the bridal party and groomsman all "wanged the welly's" in the air as high as we could, which made a really nice picture. The list goes on!

Describing David in three words: Professional, Artistic, Mindful.

Kelsie & Kyle

When we started looking for a wedding photographer, we knew we wanted to capture the day in the most natural way possible so we could look back and remember the real moments. We came across David during our search and were instantly drawn to his work as it’s relaxed but stunning! We met up with David and talked through our options over a cuppa, and we knew straight away that he was the right photographer for us! He kept in touch all the way up until the big day to confirm arrangements, answer any questions and put our minds at ease. There was no pressure, he listened to what we wanted and helped us when we needed some guidance.

From the moment David arrived during the wedding morning prep, he made the bridal party feel completely relaxed - this carried on throughout the day and all our guests felt comfortable and at ease as he took those all important photos. As the bride I checked in a few times to ask if David needed anything, and he reassured me that I should enjoy my day and he was happy to work around us - which I really appreciated!

We were so excited to receive our photo gallery and were absolutely delighted with the photos. David captured our day in the most magical and authentic way, the photos exceeded all our expectations and we honestly couldn’t have asked for more.

The hard part was choosing photos for our album as we loved them all! But the images from a couple of comedy moments during the day really made us smile, and they’re great memories to look back on.

If we were to describe David in three words it would be professional, friendly and super talented (that’s four, but three just wasn’t enough!).

Aimee & Amer

Our friends Jon & Hannah introduced us to David, as he was their wedding photographer. We loved how friendly David was, and the style of his photos.

Communication before our wedding was great, David was really quick to reply to me whenever I had a query. He made the process very ‘stress free’ and met up with us a few weeks before the wedding to go through the order of the day. He asked us to plan ahead, and group our guest for photos, which made the photo process really quick and easy on the day. So we have photos with all our loved ones, but also got time to mingle, thanks to David’s foresight.

On the day David was amazing! He captured all of the important moments. He really felt more like a guest than our photographer, he is so easy to get along with. He was punctual, polite and knew the exact moments to take Amer and I away for photos, without disrupting the flow of the day.

Whilst I was having my make up done, my bridesmaids had put pizzas in the oven. The pizzas had caught fire, and David was right there to help put it out, but also captured some great photos of shocked / laughing faces of my bridesmaids. The photos are so natural and are some of my favourite ones of the bridesmaids. It wasn’t David’s responsibility to help the girls out in this situation, but he did it to make sure it didn’t disrupt the wedding morning, and we are so thankful to him for this.

Amer and I were blown away with the wedding gallery, David’s skills are incredible. He took some stunning photos, with incredible backgrounds, but also took natural pictures of all our guests throughout the day. There isn’t one picture in our gallery that we don’t love.

My favourite photos are the ones David took of Amer and I, after the wedding ceremony when the nerves had gone. He placed my veil over the two of us whilst we were standing by the lake, with the gorgeous venue and sunshine in the background; the effect is just beautiful.

If I was asked to descride David in three words, they would be creative, bright and breathtaking.

Frequently asked questions

Find answers to some common questions below. Alternatively, you can contact David directly either by chat, phone or video. (This is often the quickest way to get the information you need.)

What area do you cover?

I am based in Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, which gives me access to Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and large areas of Yorkshire.  As a rule, I am happy to travel up to 60 miles to cover a wedding. Any further than this I charge a fee to cover travel costs.

How many photos will I get from our wedding photography?

Every wedding is different and the number of images you receive can be a reflection of what moments are there to be captured.  On a normal wedding day I usually deliver between 600-800 images to your online gallery.

How long will it be before I receive my wedding gallery?

I know how keen my couples are to see and share some images from their wedding day, so with this in mind I always like to provide a selection of teaser shots a day or two after the wedding day.  This would usually be around 20-30 images.  I then aim to deliver the full collection of images on an online gallery within 6-8 weeks.

Can I share my images and buy prints and wall art?

From the online gallery my coupes will have access to the full selection of wedding images, but they will be subtly watermarked.  From the gallery you would be able to order any prints or wall art directly through my professional printing service. You would be able to share the gallery to any friends and family, and they too, would be able to order any prints they may like as well.  If you wanted the full collection of high resolution images to share and keep, my couples do have the option of ordering a USB.  See more on my packages page here.

How long have you been Photographing Weddings?

Having been photographing weddings for the best part of 13 years, I am a highly experienced photographer.  I have been lucky to work at some of the countries premium wedding venues and have one many awards, including the prestigious Guild Of Photographers Wedding Photographer of the Year for 2021.

Are you fully Insured?

Yes, I have insurance for all my equipment as well as £2M public liability insurance.  I also have Drone insurance as well as the necessary drone qualifications to be legal and safe when flying at a wedding.

Will we have to pay extra for Drone Photos?

No.  I see my drone as an essential piece of equipment on a wedding day, and so long as the weather allows it and it is safe to do so, I will use it on your wedding day to capture shots of the venue, your guests and it allows me to get creative when getting shots of my couples too.

How do I book in for a chat about my wedding?

Get in touch using my contact page here and we can arrange a chat, either in person at my home in Brockholes, Holmfirth, or we can arrange a Zoom call.
